Louisa Gagliardi’s editie Splashback, gemaakt ter gelegenheid van haar solotentoonstelling ‘Deep Breaths’, is in beperkte oplage beschikbaar in Cc Strombeek. Het is gebaseerd op een eerder werk met de titel ‘Deluge’ uit 2022. In dit eerder schilderij wordt het gezicht van een figuur weerspiegeld in het oppervlak van een bovenhangende douchekop. De editie kan verder als een verlenging van haar recentste werk op spiegels beschouwd worden. De serie ‘Back and Forth’ namelijk, die voor de tentoonstelling ‘Deep Breaths’ gecreëerd is, portretteert een reeks figuren die aan wastafels staan. Haar praktijk heeft een sterke band met de speelse perspectieven van het surrealisme. De editie vormt zo een geschikte aanvulling voor haar eerste institutionele tentoonstelling in België.
Produced on the occasion of her solo exhibition ‘Deep Breaths’, Louisa Gagliardi’s limited edition Splashback for CC Strombeek is based on an earlier work from 2022, entitled ‘Deluge’. In this earlier painting the face of a figure is reflected in the surface of a shower head hanging above. In this new work Splashback, it is the face of the viewer which becomes the focal point of the artwork. Furthermore this edition can be seen as an extension of her most recent works produced on mirror, the series ‘Back and Forth’ a new body of work created for the exhibition ‘Deep Breaths’, in which a series of characters are portrayed at washroom sinks. Her practice shares strong links with the playful perspectives of Surrealism, in this sense this new edition becomes an apt companion to her first institutional exhibition in Belgium.
