Voor zijn eerste institutionele solotentoonstelling in België, keerde Rirkrit Tiravanija terug naar het werk dat zijn internationale carrière in het begin van de jaren 1990 lanceerde. In Cc Strombeek vormde een zeefdrukatelier het centrale kunstwerk van de tentoonstelling. Bezoekers konden zelf T-shirts bedrukken met slogans en gratis meenemen. Men kon kiezen uit 57 slogans die telkens begonnen met het woord FREE en varieerden van FREE BEER (GRATIS BIER), FREE PRESS (VRIJE PERS) tot FREE FROM OPPRESSION (VRIJ VAN OPPRESSIE). Mogelijke betekenissen van het woord "vrij" (free) in verschillende culturele, sociale en politieke situaties werden verkend. De quotes waren afkomstig uit originele notities van de kunstenaar die ooit de basis vormden voor Tiravanija’s legendarische tentoonstelling uit 1992 untitled 1992 (free). Deze exclusieve editie - een beperkte reeks handgedrukte T-shirts met de slogan FREE EVERYTHING - sluit de tentoonstelling in Cc Strombeek scherpzinnig en symbolisch af.
For his first institutional solo exhibition in Belgium, Rirkrit Tiravanija returned to the work that launched his international career in the early 1990s. In Cc Strombeek, a screen printing studio formed the central work of art in the exhibition. Visitors could print their own T-shirts with slogans and take them away for free. There were in total 57 slogans to choose from all of which started with the word FREE and varied from FREE BEER, FREE PRESS to FREE FROM OPPRESSION. Possible meanings of the word "free" in different cultural, social and political contexts were explored. The quotes were taken from the artist's original notes that once formed the basis for Tiravanija's legendary 1992 exhibition untitled 1992 (free). This exclusive edition - a limited series of hand-printed T-shirts with the slogan FREE EVERYTHING - closes the exhibition in Cc Strombeek with wit and symbolism.
